Women's Hoops Bounces Back With Double-Digit Win Over RPI

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bowdoin College women's basketball team earned its first win of the 2022 calendar year in a convincing 73-53 triumph over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Sunday on day two of the Coastal Classic. The Polar Bears improve to 10-2 on the year while RPI falls to 2-6. 

Game Highlights
  • Tied at 14 late in the opening quarter, Bowdoin used an 8-2 run to close the period, capped by a running lay-in from Sydney Jones, to take a 22-16 edge after ten minutes of play. 
  • Bowdoin continued to stretch their lead with a dominant defensive showing in the second stanza, holding RPI to 3-15 shooting and pushing their lead to double figures, 36-24, at intermission.
  • The Engineers could get no closer than 11 points in the second half, as Bowdoin pushed the lead to as many as 20 points, including the final margin of victory. 
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin finished at 47% shooting for the game, and had four players in double digits, led by 16 from Sydney Jones, who also had five rebounds and four assists.
  • Tatum Angotti had 12 points and six boards while Annie Boasberg and Sela Kay had ten apiece.
  • RPI was led by 13 points from Lolo Reynolds, but couldn't overcome 31% shooting and 18 turnovers in the game.
