Trinity Drops Bowdoin in Tuesday Afternoon Men's Basketball

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College men's basketball team outscored Bowdoin 41-17 in the second half of a 79-52 win on Tuesday afternoon. Trinity improves to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC, while the Polar Bears fall to 9-7 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin was able to keep pace with the Bantams in the opening half, as James McGowan's 12 first-half points kept Trinity's lead at 38-35 at the break. 
  • A 7-0 run out of the gate in the second half pushed Trinity's lead to double figures, 45-35.
  • A quick 6-0 Bowdoin surge, capped by a McGowan bucket trimmed the lead to 46-41, but that was as close as Bowdoin could come, as Trinity replied with a 13-4 run to increase their lead to 60-45 with ten minutes to go.
  • Another 11-2 Trinity run, sparked by a series of three-pointers from Ben Callahan-Gold, put the contest out of reach.

  • Trinity held Bowdoin to 28.6 percent field goal shooting for the game and forced 16 turnovers while committing just seven.
  • Ben Callahan-Gold finished with a double-double for the Bantams, totaling 16 points and ten rebounds.
  • James McGowan led Bowdoin with 16 points while Taiga Kagitomi added ten.
