Bowdoin Battles in 2-1 Overtime Loss to Trinity

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Alex Kozic made a career-high 49 saves to keep the Bowdoin men's hockey in the game against Trinity on Sunday evening, eventually falling 2-1 in overtime.

The Bantams climb to 7-5-0 (5-3-0 NESCAC). The Polar Bears are 3-5-3 (3-3-2 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Lucas Michaud nearly gave Trinity an early lead three minutes into the game. Michaud intercepted a breakout pass in the slot and turned on net. The senior executed with patience and drew Alex Kozic but still could not best the net minder.
  • The Bantams finally broke through at 12:45 in the first. Gerard Maretta handled down the center and carried towards the goal face. Maretta pulled right and buried a shot inside near post.
  • Nate Clark had Bowdoin's most promising bid of the first with a breakaway into Trinity territory. J.P. Mella dropped to the ice and closed the game between his pads to deny Clark at the last second.
  • Bowdoin tied the game with 2:53 remaining in the second period. Ean Small had the puck behind Trinity's net and quickly turned and fed Nate Clark on the left post. Clark flicked a shot just inside the post.
  • Trinity won in overtime as Riley Prattson had the puck on the right side and found Andrew Troy in the slot for a one-timer.
