Volleyball Completes Perfect Weekend With Sweep of Conn College

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team swept Connecticut College in Morrell Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-14) to polish off a perfect opening weekend of NESCAC play. The Polar Bears move to 4-2 (2-0 NESCAC) while the Camels fall to 0-2 (0-2 NESCAC).

Match Highlights
  • Tied at 9-9 in the opening set, Bowdoin rolled off an 8-1 run, with five straight points coming on Sophia Pahl's service, to take a commanding 17-10 edge en route to a match-opening 25-16 win. 
  • It was more of the same in the second set as the Polar Bears used a 5-1 surge to create some space and take a 15-12 lead. Conn College stayed within striking distance before a late 4-1 run sealed it with a Jaida Hodge-Adams kill to take a 25-19 win. 
  • In the third, Bowdoin jumped to a 12-6 lead out of the gate and cruised, clinching the victory on Pahl's 10th kill of the afternoon. 
By The Numbers
  • Sarah Evans led all players with 11 kills, while Pahl added 10 kills, two aces and seven digs.
  • Ella Haugen had 34 assists, 11 digs and four service aces while Maya White led all players with 15 digs. 
  • Cori Gray and Jaida Hodge-Adams both continued their hot play, as Gray notched six kills and two blocks while Hodge-Adams had eight kills and 11 digs.
  • Conn. College was led by nine kills from Avery Light. Laren Carey had 21 assists in the loss for the Camels.

  • Bowdoin will host a tri-meet with Tufts and Maine Maritime in Morrell Gymnasium next Saturday. The first match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on September 25.
