BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College women's volleyball team dealt 20th-ranked Bowdoin its first loss of the 2021 campaign, knocking off the Polar Bears 3-1 (25-13, 25-19, 12-25, 25-20) on Friday night on the opening day of the MIT Invitational.
Match Highlights
- The Gulls got out of the gate quickly, jumping to a 12-5 lead in the opening set on their way to a 25-13 victory.
- The second set was tighter, but Bowdoin couldn't overcome a late 19-14 deficit, despite closing to within 19-17, Endicott finished on a 6-2 run to take a 2-0 overall lead.
- The Polar Bears dominated the third set, cruising to a 25-12 lead and cutting into Endicott's lead heading to the fourth set.
- Bowdoin took a 10-6 lead in the fourth set before a 9-2 run gave the Gulls the lead for good. The Polar Bears could get no closer than four points over the remainder of the match as Endicott clinched the victory.

- Bowdoin posted more kills than Endicott (43-37) but couldn't overcome 25 attack errors and eight service errors in the loss. The Gulls also posted 11 aces compared to five for the Polar Bears.
- Bowdoin was led by 12 kills from Cori Gray and eight apiece from Sophia Pahl and Jaida Hodge-Adams.
- Gray also had four aces and three blocks while Ella Haugen dished out a team-high 21 assists.
- Maya White had 13 digs for the Polar Bears.
- The win by Endicott was their first against Bowdoin since 2010, snapping a string of eight straight wins by the Polar Bears.
