Bowdoin To Open Athletic Facilities For Spring Semester on February 22

Bowdoin College will open its athletic facilities for the spring semester  beginning on Monday, February 22. The staff has put policies in place that follow guidance for athletic facilities in the State of Maine and are in line with campus policies for indoor activities.

A few important reminders:
  • Indoor athletic facilities will be open when the campus status is Yellow.
  • Indoor athletic facilities will only be available to students with on campus privileges (the same applies for our outdoor athletic facilities for students) and faculty and staff included in our COVID testing program.
  • Reservations for individual use of fitness equipment, squash courts, basketball baskets, and swimming, running/walking lanes will be in 45 minute blocks with a 15 minute transition and sanitation period between each reservation.  Please plan to arrive no more than 5 minutes before your scheduled time.
  • Please present your daily Campus Clear certification to the monitor upon arrival at each of our athletic facilities.
  • As is the case for all campus buildings, masks will be required at all times in our athletic facilities.  The lone exception to this policy occurs when people are swimming in Greason Pool.  Please adjust the intensity of your workout accordingly.
  • We will initially open several of our facilities on a limited basis and will evaluate use demand, compliance with our protocols and our ability to monitor additional hours of operation when determining if additional capacity will be added (or reduced) in the future.
  • Please utilize the sanitizing wipe stations located in each of our facilities before and after your workout.
  • Please direct any feedback or questions on the use of our facilities to Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning Neil Willey (nwilley@bowdoin.edu).

Before heading off to workout at one of our facilities, please visit our Protocols for Athletic Facilities website where you will find a short, "What to Expect" walk through video that is narrated by our staff responsible for each facility.  This website also has the hours of operation for each of our athletic facilities.

    • Note – you may need to scroll through days early in the week to reserve space late in the week
    • Note – you can reserve your space for multiple days at the same location as part of one reservation
  • You will receive an email confirmation for your reservation and a reminder
  • Monitors at each facility will have access to a record of reservations for each workout timeslot and guests will be checked in prior to accessing your equipment, court or lane.
  • If you will not be able to use the time you have reserved, please return to CampusGroups to cancel your reservation.
