BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team lost to Bates for the first time since 2013 as the Bobcats took down the Polar Bears in Morrell Gymnasium, 74-70, on Wednesday evening.
The Polar Bears, who entered the game ranked fourth in the D3hoops.com national poll, fall to 7-1 on the year while the Bobcats move to 5-1, snapping a 14-game losing streak to Bowdoin. The teams will play their conference matchup on January 29 in Lewiston.
Game Highlights
- Bates jumped out to a quick lead and never trailed, sprinting to a 12-2 lead just five minutes into the contest.
- The Bobcats maintained a double-digit lead throughout most of the opening half until a brief Bowdoin spurt closed the gap to two points, 25-23, late in the second quarter.
- But Bates replied with a 11-3 lead to close the half, pushing the lead to 36-26 at the break.
- The Bobcats still held a ten-point lead into the fourth quarter and Bowdoin could get no closer than seven points until the final moments of the game.

- Meghan Graff led all scorers with 30 points in the win for Bates.
- Bowdoin was paced by 28 points from Sydney Jones in defeat.
- The Polar Bears connected on just 35% from the field and went 4-18 from long distance while Bates shot 46% for the game and owned a commanding 44-37 edge in rebounding.
- Sela Kay (15) and Callie Godfrey (11) also saw double figures for Bowdoin.
