Men's Hockey Skates to 3-3 Tie Against WIT

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 overtime tie with Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Colby College.
 
The Polar Bears (0-3-1) and Leopards (2-6-2) played a scoreless first period, with six combined goals coming in the second and third.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored the game's first goal 7:53 in the middle frame. Patrick Fitzgerald had his first collegiate goals with helpers from Kyle Jarosz and Will Van Der Veen.
  • Wentworth tied the game with three seconds remaining in the period, sending the teams tied 1-1 into the third.
  • All four third period goals came from special teams. Bowdoin scored a pair of quick power play goals to go up 3-1. Chris Brown finished off a feed from Luke Wheeler and then tallied a helper on Wheeler's goal two minutes later. Ethan Kimball also tallied an assist on Wheeler's goal.
  • WIT cut the lead to one with a rebuttal short-handed goal 20 seconds later. The equalizer was another short-handed tally with 3:52 remaining.

  • Alex Kozic made 43 stops for the Polar Bears.
  • Will Oliver made 35 saves for the Leopards.
  • Bowdoin scored two power play goals off seven power play chances.
  • WIT went 1-for-5 on the power play and added two short-handed tallies.
