Women's Basketball Remains Unbeaten With Road Win at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team never trailed after the opening moments of a 62-51 win over the University of New England on Tuesday evening.
 
The 13th-ranked Polar Bears knocked off the Nor'easters for the second time this season to improve to 6-0. UNE falls to 2-5 on the year with the setback.
 
Game Highlights
  • A dominant first half propelled the Polar Bears to the eventual win on Tuesday evening.
  • A trio of three-pointers by Tori Beck gave the Polar Bears a 17-7 lead after ten minutes, and Bowdoin pushed the lead to as many as 14 points in the second quarter.
  • A late push by UNE closed the gap to 28-20 at the break.
  • The Nor'easters didn't go away in the second half, closing the gap to two points midway through the third quarter but never pulling even.
  • Bowdoin led 38-32 after three quarters and regained a double-digit advantage thanks to a four-point run to open the final period.
  • The Polar Bears held as much as a 14-point lead in the closing minutes on their way to the win.

  • Bowdoin finished at 30% shooting for the game, but connected on 41% from long distance to aid their path to victory.
  • The Polar Bears also owned a 53-43 edge in rebounding and held UNE to 27% shooting in the game.
  • Nine different players scored for Bowdoin, led by 12 points apiece from Tori Beck and Annie Boasberg. Boasberg also had seven boards.
  • Sela Kay added ten points while Tatum Angotti had nine points and eight boards. Sydney Jones also scored nine points for the Polar Bears.
  • UNE was paced by 16 points from Allie Goodman.
  • The Polar Bears have won six straight against their neighbors from Biddeford, dating back to 2015, and improve to 18-3 all-time against UNE.
