Men's Hockey Falls in 1-0 Shutout to Williams

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's hockey team suffered a season opening 1-0 shutout loss to Williams on Saturday evening.
 
The Ephs (2-0-0, 2-0-0 NESCAC) leave Maine with a pair of shutout wins. The Polar Bears open the season at 0-1-0 (0-1-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin had a promising look early in the second as Cam Berube missed a backhander coming down the slot, inches outside the left post.
  • Williams scored the game's lone goal on the power play at 14:14. Jarin Sutton took a shot that deflected off the goalie's pads and left, where Connor Tobin collected the puck and put a low angle shot on net from the left to best Alex Kozic.
  • Midway through the third, Bobby Pearl fed Jimmy Duffy on the right post for a one timer that barely went wide.
  • On the power play in the final minute, Kyle Jadatz rang a shot off the elbow of the net.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-4 on the power play. Williams went 1-for-4 on the power play.
  • Kozic made 24 saves for Bowdoin. Evan Ruschil made 25 stops to earn the shutout.
