Gray, Cady Lead All-NESCAC Honors for Bowdoin Volleyball

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Following a season in which they claimed their second NESCAC title in the last three seasons, the Bowdoin College volleyball team was highlighted in conference awards handed out on Wednesday.

Senior Cori Gray (Winter Park, Fla.) was named the NESCAC Player of the Year while Erin Cady was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year. Additionally, Gray was joined as a First Team All-NESCAC selection by Sophia Pahl (Cedarburg, Wis.) while Ella Haugen (Minneapolis, Minn.) was named Second Team All-NESCAC.

Cori Gray becomes the fourth Polar Bear to earn NESCAC Player of the Year honors, joining Caroline Flaharty (2018), Christy Jewett (2015) and Kristin Hanczor (2011). The conference leader in blocks (0.99/set) by 14 over the next closest athlete, Gray also ranked among the league leaders in kills (2.75), hitting percentage (.344) and service aces (39). She was twice named NESCAC Player of the Week this fall, and earns her first First Team All-NESCAC selection after being named Second Team in 2019.

Sophia Pahl grabs her first postseason honor with a well-deserved First Team All-NESCAC choice this fall. Pahl excelled all over the court for the Polar Bears, leading the team and ranking among the NESCAC's best with 3.17 kills/set while also racking up 3.25 digs/set. She also led Bowdoin with 47 service aces on the season.

Ella Haugen also receives her first NESCAC postseason award by being named Second Team All-Conference. Bowdoin's prolific setter played in 93 of Bowdoin's 95 total sets this fall, ranking second in the league in total assists (793) at 8.53/set. She also had 40 service aces on the season and 227 digs (2.44/set).

For the second time in her career, head coach Erin Cady has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Cady and assistant coach Taylor Stevens guided Bowdoin to their second NESCAC crown in the last three seasons and third in Cady's six years at the helm of the program. The Polar Bears passed the 20-win plateau for the third straight year (22-4) and improved Cady's career record to 128-39, with an astounding .766 winning percentage, the best in program history.

Bowdoin will return to action in the opening round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament at MIT on Friday where they will play Johnson & Wales in the opening round at 3:00 p.m.
