Volleyball Extends Winning Streak, Sweeps Trinity in Friday NESCAC Match

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team rolled Trinity 3-0 on Friday for its sixth straight victory, taking a 25-14, 25-19, 25-22 win. The Polar Bears improve to 10-3 (5-1 NESCAC) while the Bantams drop to 7-9 (0-5 NESCAC).
 
Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears jumped all over the Bantams early, taking a 10 lead and never looking back in a 25-14 set victory. Bowdoin won nine straight points on Sophia Pahl's service early in the set, including five aces.
  • Trinity rebounded in a more competitive second set, taking an early 5-2 lead before Bowdoin stormed back. Down 8-6 midway through the set, the Polar Bears rolled off an 8-0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish, coming off of Cori Gray's service that included a pair of aces in the run.
  • The third set was easily the best of the evening as the teams exchanged the lead seven times. Trailing 21-20, the Polar Bears finished off the match with a 5-1 run to seal the victory.
By The Numbers
  • Sophia Pahl finished with eight kills, seven aces and 11 digs to spark the Polar Bears.
  • Lauren Lange had six blocks while Ella Haugen (14 assists) and Joy Lui (11 assists) split setting duties.
  • Trinity was led by ten kills from Molly Bernstein, but the Bantams were sunk by 19 attack errors and struggled returning Bowdoin's service, permitting ten aces on the night.

  • Bowdoin returns to action tomorrow with a doubleheader in Biddeford. The Polar Bears will play UNE at 11:00 a.m. before facing Rhode Island College at 1:00 p.m.
