BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team swept Bates 3-0 in a non-conference match between the schools on Wednesday evening in Morrell Gymnasium, cruising to a 25-22, 25-14, 25-17 victory. The match was the annual "Dig Pink" fundraiser for the squad, who finished the contest with 61 digs as part of their pledge-per-dig campaign. Bowdoin moves to 9-3 overall this season while the Bobcats fall to 5-8. 

Match Highlights

• The Polar Bears jumped to a 10-1 lead out of the gate in the first set and held off a late Bobcat surge to take a 25-22 win to open the match.
• With Bowdoin holding a slim 15-13 lead in the second set, the Polar Bears rolled off a 10-1 run, coming on services from Maya White and Joy Liu to win 25-14 and take a 2-0 edge. 
• Bates held a 9-8 lead to open the third set, but a 7-1 Bowdoin run regained the lead and the Bobcats could get no closer than three points for the remainder of the match as the Polar Bears closed it out with a 25-17 triumph. 

By The Numbers

• Cori Gray led Bowdoin with eight kills and four blocks while Ella Haugen dished out 18 assists, had two kills and three service aces. 
• Bowdoin collected 11 blocks as a team, including three from Lauren Lange, and Sophia Pahl led the team with 16 digs. 
• The Polar Bears have won 18 of their last 19 against the Bobcats dating back to 2009 and the teams will play again in Lewiston in the NESCAC match on October 30.
