BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team secured the number three seed in the NESCAC playoffs with a 3-1 win over Tufts in the final game of the regular season.
 
The Polar Bears are 12-3 (7-3 NESCAC) and handed the Jumbos only their second conference loss of the year (12-3, 8-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights

• Tufts opened the day's scoring at 6:24. Sophie Schoeni sent a long ball in from just outside the 25. Gillian Roeca deflected the feed from the stroke line and redirected it past Maddie Ferrucci.
• Bowdoin found the back of the net just over two minutes into the second quarter. Manveer Sandhu buried a drive from the top off a corner insert from Caroline Higgins.
• With less than two minutes remaining in the frame, Bowdoin took the lead. Georgie Coezter drove a ball from the top of the circle on a corner and watched as Bailey Prete tipped the shot past Andie Stallman.
• The Polar Bears earned some breathing room with a minute to play in the third quarter. Following a corner, Faith Jennings collected the ball on the right side and passed center to Jill Cloonan. Cloonan turned and put the ball past Sam Gibby for the 3-1 lead.
• With three minutes remaining in the game, Ferrucci came up with a diving blocker save on a shot by Reegan McCluskey on a corner.

• Bowdoin held a 10-6 shot advantage and 11-4 corner advantage.
• Ferrucci ended the day with two saves.
• Stallman played the first half and Gibby made two saves in the second.
