Women's Soccer Falls to Tufts in Soggy Showdown

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team suffered a 4-3 loss to Tufts in the regular season finale during a wet and windy game on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears slip to 8-6-1 (3-6-1 NESCAC). The Jumbos improve to .500 in conference play (5-5-0) and 8-6-0 overall.
 
Game Highlights
  • Stephanie DiLeo opened the game's scoring 9:45 into action. DoLeo faced down the Bowdoin keeper and fainted one way before depositing the ball the opposite.
  • Maddie Pero set up Tufts' second goal six minutes later, controlling the ball at the right post and dishing left for Margaux Ameer to score on the opposite side.
  • Bowdoin cut the lead in half as Julia Adelmann dished up a feed from the right side to Lynn Farquhar outside the box on the left. Farquhar lofted a perfect ball over the outstretched hand of Kaelin Logue.
  • Tess Huckaby tied the game for Bowdoin seven minutes into the second half. Samaya Bernardo took a corner kick from the left side and the ball found Huckaby. Huckaby booted the ball in from close range.
  • Tufts regained the lead 12 minutes later off a tally from Nic Sommers and made it 4-2 with eight minutes remaining. Claire Wilkinson was on the left post and made a quick touch to Maddie Pero who slotted the ball past Penny Rocchio.
  • Bowdoin responded three minutes later off the foot of Samaya Bernardo.
 
By the Numbers
  • Tufts held a slight 20-19 edge in shots, while Bowdoin had a dominant 13-4 corner kick advantage.
  • Logue made 11 saves.
  • Rocchio made nine stops.
