Men's Soccer Posts Key 2-0 Homecoming Win Over Trinity

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team returned to the conference win column with a 2-0 victory over visiting Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 5-3-0 (2-3-0 NESCAC) on the season. The Bantams slip to 2-6-0 (0-4-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored early, netting a goal at 9:07. Michael Webber punted the ball from the top of the Bowdoin box to beyond midfield. Drake Byrd elevated for a header to flick the ball further up field to Charlie Ward. Ward carried into the box and bested Simoes with a left footer into the net.
  • Byrd netted an insurance goal with 2:14 remaining in the game. Ronaldo Cabral stripped a defender of the ball and fed Byrd streaking into the box. Byrd carried left and waiting for the goalie to commit before left footing a shot to the far corner.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 21-14 edge in shots and slight 7-5 corner kick advantage.
  • Simoes made one save for Trinity.
  • Michael Webber made seven stops for the Polar Bears. Chris Kingston made one save in net, playing the final 24 minutes.
