Pair of Second Half Goals Lift Men's Soccer to Win at Southern Maine

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Minseo Bae and Everett Horch scored second half goals to give the Bowdoin College men's soccer team a 2-0 non-conference win at the University of Southern Maine on Monday evening. The Polar Bears, who won their 12th straight over the Huskies, improve to 8-4-1 on the season with the victory.

Match Highlights
  • The teams played a scoreless first half, with Bowdoin controlling the majority of the action. The Polar Bears held a 7-1 shot advantage in the opening half, but USM netminder Hayes Estrella kept his team in the game with five saves over the first 45 minutes.
  • Bowdoin finally found the back of the net in the 54th minute when a foul was drawn just outside the box to the right of Estrella, giving the Polar Bears a free kick from 20 yards out. Minseo Bae ripped a low liner that was deflected by a USM defender inside the left post to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead.
  • Bowdoin doubled its lead in the 66th minute when a run on the left win by Drake Byrd resulted in a perfectly-played centering service to Everett Horch. Horch chipped the ball over the head of the goaltender for his second career goal, giving the Polar Bears a 2-0 advantage.
