MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team saw its winning streak come to an end in a non-conference loss to Tufts on Tuesday evening in three close sets, 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-22). The Polar Bears had won eight straight entering the match, but fall to 12-4 with the setback. The Jumbos move to 13-4 with their second win over Bowdoin this fall.
Match Highlights
- A back-and-forth first set saw the Polar Bears serving for the win, 24-23, but Tufts fended off set point and won three straight points to take the opener, 26-24.
- Tufts jumped ahead 5-0 in the second set, and the Polar Bears were playing catch-up throughout the set. Bowdoin was able to get as close as two points, 15-13, midway through the set, but Tufts used a 7-2 run to take command en route to a 25-20 win.
- Bowdoin was forced to dig out of anther big hole in the third, as the Jumbos sprinted to an 11-2 advantage. Down 24-17, Bowdoin was able to win five straight points to climb to within 24-22, but a service error on the next point sealed the win for Tufts, 25-22.
