Men's Soccer And Ephs Play to 1-1 Tie in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie at Williams on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears return to Maine with a 6-4-1 (3-4-1 NESCAC) record. The Ephs are 5-4-2 (2-3-2 NESCAC). This is the fourth 1-1 tie between the two teams since 2016.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored in the 20th minute of action to take a 1-0 lead. Drake Byrd broke away down the left side and earned a one-on-one with the Williams goalie. The senior fired a low hard shot to the far post.
  • Williams evened the game ten minutes into the second half.
  • Xander Cardia had a promising long shot from deep on the right side that was denied by Ben Diffley in the 68th minute.
  • Nearly ten minutes later, Dylan Reid put a promising header high towards the goal, but Diffley elevated to turn away his shot.

  • Williams held a 20-11 edge in shots and 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • The Ephs held a 5-1 shot advantage in the first overtime, but Bowdoin held the statistical advantage in the second with a 2-0 tally.
  • Diffley made six saves.
