Men's Swimming and Diving Boasts Multiple Podium Finishes in Opening Day of NESCACs

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's swimming & diving team sits in sixth place following the first full day of competition at the 2020 NESCAC Championship.

The Polar Bears sit in sixth with 363 points. Colby is currently in fifth with 410 and Middlebury in seventh with 285.5.

Meet Highlights

  • Bowdoin's 200 free relay got the evening session started with a sixth place finish. Julian Abaldo, Jackson Scott, Ethan O'Connor, and Ted Mebust put together a time of 1:22.57.
  • The Polar Bears had three point scorers I the 50 fly. Abaldo was eighth, O'Connor 12th, and Jacob Baltaytis finished 13th.
  • Andrew Macdonald earned 18th overall in the 500 free.
  • Ted Mebust had the highest finish of the night for Bowdoin with a runner-up finish in the 50 backstroke (22.60). Leighton Mayers was 14th in the event.
  • Justin Yang had another podium finish for the Polar Bears, taking fifth in the 200 IM (1:52.71). Killian Dickson earned points with a 24th place result.
  • Mebust had a strong showing in the 50 free, qualifying for the finals, and finished seventh. Abaldo finished 15th and Scott was 23rd.
  • Henry Isaacson earned fifth in the 1-meter dive (372.45).
  • The 400 medley relay closed out the night with an eighth place finish.  Yang joined Scott, Abaldo, and O'Connor to form the relay
