Amherst Edges Bowdoin in Tight Men's Squash Battle

AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's squash team couldn't quite close the deal, dropping a 6-3 decision to 21st-ranked Amherst on Monday afternoon.

The 24th-ranked Polar Bears stand at 7-4 overall this season.

Match Highlights

  • The men won at three positions, courtesy of Tyler Shonrock, Drew Clark and Henry Somerby, but lost a trio of 3-1 matches that proved to be the difference in the loss.
  • Shonrock's creative play gave him a 5-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-8 comeback win at the #2 position while Somerby claimed a hard-fought 15-13, 9-11, 13-11, 11-8 win at #6. 
  • Drew Clark earned a sweep at #7, winning 11-9, 11-6, 11-8.
  • Adham Sohby, Gannon Leech and Carson Claar each took 3-1 setbacks at the #3-5 spots as Amherst clinched the victory.
