HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin men's hockey team never trailed top-ranked Trinity in a 3-3 overtime tie on Saturday evening.
The Bantams (11-1-1, 6-0-1 NESCAC) are the number one team in the country and had not been taken to overtime yet this season. The Polar Bears promising second semester continues as the team climbs to 8-5-1 (4-3-1 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin took a 1-0 lead 4:06 into the game. Bobby Murray fired a shot on net during a Bowdoin rush into the zone and Christian Capello put away the rebound.
- The Polar Bears made it 2-0 just 1:21 into the second. Albert Washco backhanded a pass as he slid towards the back boards and connected with Thomas Dunleavy in motion moving towards net. Dunleavy connected with the puck, sliding on one knee, and put the shot far left post.
- The top-ranked Bantams fought back with a power play goal to cut the deficit to one at 5:49. James Callahan received the puck from a feed in the left corner and buried an open wrister.
- Barclay Gammill tied the game with 3:33 remaining in the period, putting away a sliding one-timer.
- With just under three minutes remaining in the game, Bowdoin took a 3-2 lead as Bradley Ingersoll fired a shot from the right point and Dunleavy deflected it into the net.
- The Bantams forced overtime with 1:03 left in regulation as Dylan Healey stuff the puck in the goal from the left post.
