Men's Soccer Blows Past Bantams

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin men's soccer team exploded for five goals to pick up its first conference win in a 5-1 victory over Trinity on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears are 4-1-3 overall and 1-1-3 in NESCAC action. The Bantams are 1-7-0 overall.

Game Highlights

  • Bowdoin started the scoring 13 minutes into action. Jason Oliver rang a shot off the crossbar with Charlie Ward crashing the goal line to put the ball into the net on a one-timer.
  • The Bantams answered ten minutes later to tie the game. Joshua Morency ran through the goal box and one-timed a feed from Max Cottrell.
  • Matt Uek responded with an unassisted tally six minutes later to regain the lead for Bowdoin. Uek poked the ball away from a pair of Trinity defenders in the box and put it beyond the reach of Everett Lyons.
  • Ian Strudwick buried a penalty kick just minutes later to make it 3-1.
  • The Polar Bears scored two more goals in the second half, coming in the 75th and 77th minutes. Max McPherron finished off a feed from Jack Selig and Brian Bae scored off a rebound.

By the Numbers

  • Bowdoin held a 15-3 edge in shots and 10-2 corner kick advantage.
  • Lyons allowed three goals in as many shots in the first half. Andrew Clark made six saves in the second half.
  • Michael Webber allowed one goal for Bowdoin. Sam McDowell played the final ten minutes.
