Panthers Pin 1-0 Setback on Field Hockey

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 1-0 to top-ranked Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.

The ninth-ranked Polar Bears are 3-1 (2-1 NESCAC), while the Panthers remain perfect at 4-0 (2-0 NESCAC).

  • Corners skewed in favor of Middlebury in the second by a 3-1 margin.
  • Promising scoring chances cropped up in the second half of play as Katie George intercepted a pass around Bowdoin's 25 and came towards net on a breakaway. Maddie Ferrucci met George with a slide tackle to suffocate the bid.
