GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Bowdoin swimming and diving teams enjoyed a record-shattering day two at the NCAA Championships.

Meet Highlights

• The Bowdoin women took down three more school records on the second day of NCAAs. 
• The relay team of ​Mary Laurita, Marshall Lowery, Sterling Dixon, and Amanda Banasiak knocked six tenths of a second off their own seed time and school record, a 1:34.99 swum in a time trial at NESCACs, as they touched in 1:34.33. The quartet blew away their 19th place seed to move up to sixth, securing a spot in the Championship final. Laurita led off in 23.71, tying her own 50 freestyle school record. 
• In finals the squad improved to a time of 1:34.17 to finish sixth and earn All-American honors, the first of Banasiak's and Laurita's careers.
• Laurita landed on the podium a second time in the session. After setting a school record and personal best 54.95 in the 100 fly in prelims, Laurita returned to finals and raced to a 54.91. That time was good for fifth overall, just .01 behind a tie for third in 54.90.
• Dixon also returned to the podium. In prelims of the 200 freestyle the senior touched the wall in 1:48.69 to earn the second seed for finals. That time destroyed Dixon's own school record (1:50.28), which she already lowered considerably at NESCACs. At night she finished fourth with a 1:49.77.
• As of the end of day two the women sit in 10th place with 67 points.
• Senior Mitchell Ryan finished prelims of one meter diving in seventh with a score of 464.95. In finals he moved up to sixth overall with 479.65 points, securing All-America honors. 
• The men's 200 freestyle relay of Karl Sarier, Ted Mebust, Andrew MacDonald, and Julian Abaldo touched 18th in a time of 1:23.55. Sarier also raced the 200 freestyle, touching in 1:41.43.
• The Polar Bear men are 24th with 13 points at the end of day two.
