MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's hockey team picked up its second consecutive win with a 3-1 victory over host Wesleyan on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears extend their win streak to two (3-13-1, 2-7-0 NESCAC) after knocking off nationally-ranked Middlebury last weekend followed by the Cardinals (4-10,1 1-7-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

• Bowdoin jumped out to a 1-0 lead 6:08 into the first period. JJ Taube sent a pass from the Bowdoin zone up the right boards for Julia Surgenor. Surgenor wristed the puck just below the crossbar on the breakaway.
• Wesleyan looked for an equalizer on the power play midway through the frame, but Caroline Seibold's point-blank shot was turned away by Kerri St. Denis.
• The Polar Bears doubled their lead with 4:21 remaining in the period. Miranda Bell redirected a shot from Ali Dougal to put the puck past Allegra Grant.
• Just two minutes later, Wesleyan cut its deficit in half as Maggie Curran fired a shot from the right faceoff circle.
• The game's last goal came off a short-handed tally by Angelina Joyce 1:44 into the second period. Joyce faked right and pulled left to bury the puck in the bottom corner.

By the Numbers

• St. Denis ended the day with 19 saves in net to earn the win.
• Grant stopped 26 shots for the Cardinals.
• Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
• Bell led both teams with six shots. Joyce was second in the game with four on net.
