Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team overwhelmed New England College on Tuesday evening, staying perfect with a 82-38 victory.
The Polar Bears, ranked third in the latest WBCA Division III poll released Tuesday, improve to 14-0 on the season while the Pilgrims drop to 6-4. The game was the first between the schools since a 79-39 Bowdoin victory in the 2000-01 season.
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears wasted little time taking control, using a 14-4 in the first 2:45 of the game to set the tone. The Polar Bears would hold NEC to four points over the first eight minutes of the game and led 26-8 after one quarter.
- Bowdoin outscored NEC 16-10 in the second quarter for a halftime score of 42-18.
- The first half saw Bowdoin shoot 37.1 percent from the floor (13-35), while NEC shot 26.9 percent (7-26). The Pilgrims committed 17 first-half turnovers off which the Polar Bears scored 20 points.
- The Polar Bears used an 8-for-15 effort (53.3 percent) in the third quarter to increase their lead by 10 points, and outscored the Pilgrims 16-6 in the final quarter for the 82-38 victory.
