BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie after Wesleyan evened the match ten minutes into the second half on Saturday afternoon. 

The Polar Bears sit at 1-1-1 (0-1-1 NESCAC) and are still in search of a first conference win. The Cardinals (2-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) also remain in the hunt for a NESCAC victory.

Game Highlights

• Bowdoin's first promising look of the day came early in the first half. Nikki Wilson looked for Brigit Bergin with a cross from midfield, with Bergin racing Wesleyan's Meg Hanan to the ball. Bergin got a touch on the ball, but Hanan was able to tap it away.
• Emily Pawlak gave the Polar Bears the lead 21:06 into the game. Following a header from the Cardinals, Pawlak intercepted the air ball and lined up a shot from 30-yards out. The junior lofted a shot to the top left corner for a 1-0 lead.
• Ten minutes into the second half Carly Bechtolff nearly put the Cardinals on the board. The first-year fired off a shot from the center of the box, forcing Bowdoin keeper Rachel Stout to make a redirecting save.
• A minute later, Wesleyan tied the game. Kayla O'Brian broke through a scrum, just inside the box, curling to the left. O'Brian booted a shot to the low corner on the opposite side to even the score.

By the Numbers

• Stout made ten stops in net for the Polar Bears.
• Hanan made a pair of saves for the Cardinals.
• Wesleyan outshot Bowdoin by a 16-5 margin and held a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.
