CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton men's ice hockey team ended the season for Bowdoin in a 4-2 NESCAC Quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears qualified for the NESCAC tournament as the eight seed and traveled to top ranked Hamilton. Bowdoin ends the season at 8-16-1, while the Continentals go on to host the championship weekend with an 18-3-4 record.

Game Highlights

• Ronnie Lestan gave Bowdoin the early lead 4:02 into the game. The first-year collected the puck in front and buried a shot top-shelf. Matthew Lison and Matt Sullivan notched assists on the goal.
• Hamilton evened the game less than three minutes later, converting on the power play to send the teams into the first intermission tied at 1-1. Peter Cronin made 13 stops in net for the Polar Bears during the first 20 minutes of action.
• Bowdoin controlled the opening minutes of the second period, but the Continentals capitalized on a transition and down-ice rush. Jason Brochu put away a redirect to give the hosts their first lead of the game.
• With 25 seconds remaining in the period, Tyler Brunetaeu shot into traffic and utilized the screen to put the puck past Cronin. Both teams put nine shots on net in the frame.
• Hamilton survived a pair of late power plays in the third period and sent home an empty-netter with 1:14 to play. Bowdoin responded with an unassisted wrist shot off the stick of Sullivan 13 seconds later.

By the Numbers

• Cronin ended the day with 27 saves in net for the Polar Bears.
• Evan Buitenhuis made 25 saves for Hamilton, including a pair of key stops on back-to-back bids by Cody Todesco looking to tie the game in the second.
• Bowdoin went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Continentals were 1-for-2.
