Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Hamilton field hockey team survived a late Bowdoin push to hold on for a 2-1 victory at Ryan Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Continentals climb to 8-6 (5-4 NESCAC) while dropping the Polar Bears to 6-5 (3-4 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Hamilton struck first as Michaela Giuttari scored her first of two goals in the half. In the 25th minute, Margaret Revera took a shot from the top right side of the circle. The ball careened around through traffic and found its way behind Maddie Ferrucci, allowing Giuttari to finish for the 1-0 lead.
- With under three minutes to play in the first half, Giuttari made a spin move at the top of the circle and backhanded a shot to the far right corner to double Hamilton's lead.
- Bowdoin ramped up pressure in the second half and finally broke through following a flurry of corners in the final ten minutes. Juliana Fiore sparked the play as she controlled an insert and carried towards the right before taking a shot on net. Kara Finnerty deflected the ball as it went speeding past to cut Hamilton's lead in half.
- Despite four penalty corners in the final seven minutes of play, Bowdoin was unable to even the score and force overtime.

- Ferrucci ended the day with eight saves in net for the Polar Bears.
- Julia Booth made three stops for the Continentals.
- Hamilton held a 15-9 edge in shots, while Bowdoin had a 13-8 penalty corner advantage.
