BOSTON, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a big first quarter to take command en route to a convincing 83-59 win at UMass Boston on Tuesday evening.

The 23rd-ranked Polar Bears (15-3) rolled to their third consecutive double-digit win while the Beacons fall to 8-12 overall.

Game Highlights

• After the teams traded buckets in the early going, Abigail Kelly put the Polar Bears ahead for good at 5:25 with a 3-pointer (12-10) that sparked a 15-2 run to close out the first quarter.
• The Polar Bears hit three three-pointers and forced five Beacons turnovers during the final 5:25, to earn a 24-12 advantage after one stanza.
• Bowdoin stretched their lead out to 18 points at half (46-28), behind seven points in the second quarter from Caputi.
• The Polar Bears led by as many as 26 points in the second half en route to the win.

By The Numbers

• Lydia Caputi led the Polar Bears with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Taylor Choate tacked on 14 points, while Aly Silfen put up 10 points.
• Kate Kerrigan filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, five steals and three rebounds and Abigail Kelly tacked on 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.
• For the Beacons, Raven Kelsey and Grace Geary paced the Beacons with 12 points apiece.
• Bowdoin shot 43.5 percent (30-of-69) from the field and 8-of-21 (38.1 percent) from distance in the victory.
• The Polar Bears earned a 13-1 edge in offensive rebounds and a 13-0 advantage in second-chance points.
• With the win, Bowdoin College improved to 2-0 all-time against the Beacons.
