Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Colby softball team used a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the tenth inning to hand Bowdoin a 4-3 loss on Friday afternoon.
Bowdoin (13-10-2, 3-4 NESCAC) and Colby (7-11, 1-3 NESCAC) traded homeruns late in the game to force extra-innings.
Game Highlights
- The Mules scored a lone run in the fourth inning as Skylar Labbe tagged an RBI single to right field.
- Bowdoin tied the game in the top of the sixth as Caroline Rice belted a leadoff homer to right field for her third of the season.
- Colby responded with a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning off the bat of Tori Sansone.
- Marisa O'Toole evened the game, forcing extra innings, with the game's third home run. The junior cleared the right field fence to extend the game.
- Claire McCarthy doubled to right field in the top of the tenth to drive in the go-ahead run.
- With a runner placed on second to begin the inning for Colby, Paige Hartnett hit a walk-off homerun to center to give the Mules the victory.
- Julia Saul worked 7.1 innings in the circle for Colby and earned seven strikeouts and two walks. Julia Geaumont pitched all game for Bowdoin and allowed just five hits with one strikeout.
