Five Bowdoin Swimmers & Divers Leave Nationals With All-American Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five members of the Bowdoin swimming & diving team earned All-American Honorable Mention following four days of competition at the NCAA Division III Championships.

The top eight finishers of any event are awarded All-American, with competitors 9-16 receiving All-American Honorable Mention.

Lela Garner, Mariah Rawding, Mariah Reading, and Bridget Killian combined for a pair of relay finishes that landed the four swimmers honorable mention accolades. The team finished 13th in the 200 free relay after qualifying for the B-finals and combining for a 1:45.56. In the 400 medley relay, the quartet finished 14th with a 3:50.34 in the B-finals. Rawding earned a pair of individual B-final finishes with a 14th place showing in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.90), and 15th in the 100 (1:04.17). Sterling Dixon put together a top-20 finish in the fly (2:05.70).

On the men's side, Mitch Ryan tallied the highest finish of any Bowdoin competitor with a 12th place final in the 3-meter diving event. Ryan's highest point total was 453.90. Karl Sarier missed All-American status by three places, but set a new school record in the 100 free with a 45.31 finish.
