Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – Ely Spencer scored with 1:29 remaining in double overtime to lift the Bowdoin men's soccer team to a 2-1 comeback victory over visiting Thomas College on Monday evening.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-2-2, while dropping the Terriers to 5-3-1.
Game Highlights
- The teams played a scoreless opening half, with few promising chances on either end.
- Nawfal El-Antri crossed the ball into the box for an Adam LaBrie header. LaBrie found the back of the net to give Thomas a 1-0 lead 1:01 into the second half.
- Bowdoin tied the game in the 55th minute of action off a solo effort by Ethan Ellsworth. Ellsworth settled a throw in and launched a shot from outside the box, curving inside the post to force overtime.
- With less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime, Ellsworth sent a corner kick towards Spencer. Spencer headed the incoming ball past the Terrier defense to end the game.
- Drew Martin made a pair of saves in net for Thomas. Stevie Van Siclen made five stops for the Polar Bears.
- Bowdoin held a slight 5-4 edge in corner kicks and outshot the visitors by an 11-9 margin.
