BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin's Austin Ricci scored the game-winning goal 2:56 into overtime to give the Polar Bear men's ice hockey team a 4-3 win over the University of New England on Tuesday evening at Watson Arena.

The win avenges an early-season loss by Bowdoin (5-7-3) to UNE in Biddeford and snaps a four-game winless skid for the Polar Bears. The Nor'easters (10-5-2) see their ten-game unbeaten streak come to an end in the loss.

Game Highlights

• The Nor'easters skated to an early two-goal lead in the first period before Bowdoin scored twice in a 2:01 span late in the frame
• Danny Antonoff redirected a shot at 3:56 to give UNE an early lead and Blaise Healy doubled the Nor'easters lead at 12:31, scoring on a breakaway backhander
• Bowdoin replied with a quick two-goal spurt as Matt Rubinoff put home a scramble in front before Jay Kourkoulis knocked home a loose puck in front to deadlock the score at two apiece heading into the first intermission
• Bowdoin took the lead with 2:58 to go in the second period as Chris Wallace took a feed on the left wing and snapped a top-shelf shot past goaltender Connor Maloney to give the hosts a 3-2 lead
• UNE was able to tie the score before the end of the frame as a scrum in front saw the puck come to the stick of Tucker Ross, who put home a tough-angle shot with 44 seconds left to send it to the final period tied at three
• Bowdoin killed off two penalties in third period and the best chance for either team came with under two minutes to go, but a great chance by UNE's Brady Fleurent was swept aside by Bowdoin's Peter Cronin sending the game to overtime
• Just 30 seconds into OT, Dylan Bengston hit the post for UNE
• A few moments later, on their first trip down the ice in the extra session, Ricci accepted a feed from Daniel McMullen in the neutral zone, skated down the left wing and slipped a shot pat Maloney for the game-winner
