BRUNSWICK, Maine - Rachel Kennedy tallied her second consecutive hat trick in Bowdoin field hockey's 5-0 NESCAC victory over visiting Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
The second ranked Polar Bears improve to 4-0 (3-0 NESCAC) while holding the Cardinals (2-3, 0-1 NESCAC) without a shot through all 70 minutes of regulation.
How It Happened
- Kimmy Ganong put away the first goal of the game just 5:44 into the contest. Bowdoin held the 1-0 lead for nearly 20 minutes before Kennedy would put away two quick goals.
- Kennedy scored her first of the game with 9:40 remaining after beating a defender down the left side, spinning around a pair of defenders at the top of the circle, and driving in a shot.
- The senior captain scored 24 seconds later, tracking down a feed from Juliana Fiore in traffic, and slipping the ball past Wesleyan keeper Sara Grundy.
- Sarah Jane Weill gave Bowdoin the 4-0 lead with a hard shot from the right side with less than four minutes remaining.
- Kennedy completed the hat trick 13 minutes into the second with her team leading ninth of the season.
- Grundy made 13 saves for the Cardinals as the Polar Bears outshot the visitors 25-0.
