Game One Recap – Bowdoin 9, Brandeis 0
The Polar Bears scored all nine runs off the six homers that were tallied in game one. The previous program record for total homeruns in a single game was three, a mark quickly surpassed by Bowdoin in the day's opener. Katie Gately and Julia Geaumont matched the program mark for homeruns in a single game with two each.
Gately's two-run blast to center in the top of the second gave Bowdoin the 2-0 lead, with Geaumont and Nicole Nelson each adding solo shots in the following inning to double the Polar Bears' lead. Bowdoin escaped several innings with Brandeis runners threatening from second and third base, but Emily Griffin and the Polar Bears were able to maintain the shutout. After loading the bases in the fifth, Brandeis was unable to convert and cut into Bowdoin's lead.
Gately wrapped her second homer of the day with a leadoff shot to left field, followed by a two-run shot from Cielle Collins to the opposite side. With Marisa O'Toole standing on first, Geaumont cleared the fence with her second homer of the day over the right field fence.
Griffin allowed four hits in the shutout. The sophomore tallied no walks or strikeouts in six innings of work. Nikki Cote and Melissa Soleimani each gave up three homeruns and seven hits. Cote tallied six strikeouts in her three-inning start for Brandeis.
Game Two Recap – Brandeis 6, Bowdoin 5
The Judges came back from a 5-4 deficit in the seventh inning to complete the rally and defeat Bowdoin in game two of the Friday series. Brandeis pushed runners across the plate in the bottom of the seventh with a sacrifice fly and a throwing error from Bowdoin.
Bowdoin took the 2-0 lead after three innings with RBI singles from Gately and Geaumont in the second and third innings. The Judges evened the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth off another misplay and single. Gately again gave her team the lead with another RBI single to right field, scoring Siena Mitman, in the sixth. The Judges used the bottom half of that same inning to push ahead 4-3 as Cori Coleman homered to left and Danielle Novotny tagged an RBI single the same direction.
Geaumont tallied her third homerun of the day to give the Polar Bears a 5-3 lead in the top of the seventh with another two-run shot to center, but Bowdoin was unable to hold its lead as the Judges used their final at-bat to take the game. Geaumont allowed 12 hits with two walks and one strikeout in her down on the rubber. Samantha Wroblewski allowed the same number of hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in her seven innings for Brandeis.
