MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College men's squash team went 1-2 to take 22nd place overall at the College Squash Association National Team Championship this weekend at Wesleyan University.
Playing in the Summers Cup (C) Division, the Polar Bears dropped an opening round match to Brown, 9-0, before rebounding to defeat Hobart, 8-1, in a consolation round match. In the 21st-place match on Sunday, Bowdoin dropped a 6-3 decision to Colby to finish their campaign with a 5-16 record.
Against Hobart, Bowdoin had an impressive showing with Matthew Cooper (3-0), Christian Dorff (3-0), Maxwell Bearse (3-0), Andrew Ward (3-1), Alex Reisley (3-2), Cyrus Nassikas (3-1), George Cooley (3-0) and Michael DeFranco (3-0) earning wins.
The Polar Bears came up short against Colby despite strong efforts from Ward (3-0), Benjamin Bristol (3-2) and Cooley (3-2), who each captured wins.
