How It Happened
- Bowdoin went ahead 1-0, taking a permanent lead, 9:43 into the first half. Lauren McLaughlin found herself with possession of the ball just inside Colby's defensive end and served Maggie Godley with a leading pass that Godley collected just outside the box. Godley dropped her defender as she moved left and quickly pulled back to her right before finding the far side of the net for Bowdoin's first of the game.
- Samantha Rizzo tallied five saves in the following 35 minutes of the half to keep Colby within striking distance.
- The Polar Bears doubled their lead in the 75th minute, capitalizing on a transition play. Julia Patterson came out of the midfield and down the right line, firing a shot on goal that was deflected back into play by a diving Rizzo. Jill Rathke tracked down the rebound and turned on the ball to score her first goal of the season.
- Taylor Haist tallied Bowdoin's third and final goal of the afternoon off a short pass from Nikki Wilson deep in the right corner. With Wilson feeding Haist the ball, the junior lofted a shot from 20 yards out that carried over the Colby defense with seven minutes left to play.
- Rizzo ended the day with eight saves, while Bridget McCarthy made one stop for Bowdoin. The Polar Beas held a 20-2 edge in shots and 7-4 corner kick advantage.
