Swimming and Diving Teams Fall to Bates in Dual Meet

LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College swimming and diving teams both dropped dual meets to Bates on Sunday afternoon.

The Polar Bear men (1-3) bowed to the Bobcats by a score of 153-141 while the Bowdoin women (2-2) were defeated by a margin of 191-107.

In the men's meet Bowdoin had a trio of multiple winners, including William Shi in the 50 freestyle (21.65) and 100 freestyle (47.44), Tim Long in the 500 freestyle (4:54.48) and 1000 freestyle (10:06.16) and Tom Kramer, who won both the one-meter diving (288.75) and three-meter diving (290.10) competitions. Other winners for the Polar Bears were Peter Deardorff in the 200 freestyle (1:47.80) and Ryan Kulesza in the 200 IM (1:58.46).

In the women's competition Sophia Walker won a pair of events, taking the 50 freestyle (24.93) and the 100 freestyle (54.44). Mariah Rawding was also a first-place finisher for the Polar Bear, claiming the 50 breaststroke (32.06). Bowdoin claimed a pair of relay wins

The 400 medley relay team of Holly Rudel, Rawding, Mariah Reading and Walker were victorious in 4:02.67 while the 200 freestyle relay squad of Walker, Rawding, Bridget Killian and Patty Boyer also won in a time of 1:41.58.
