Softball Takes Win Over Plymouth State

Box Score

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team returned to the win column behind a strong performance from Julia Geaumont in the circle.

Bowdoin (5-4) defeated Plymouth State 3-1 in seven innings on Monday afternoon. The Polar Bears second game of the day was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. against Fredonia State, but was cancelled due to weather.

Hanna Wurgaft and Nicole Nelson each went 2-3 at the plate, with Wurgaft blasting an RBI double to right in the first and adding a single in the third. Nelson's single in the first brought Wurgaft around for an RBI and 2-0 lead. A single from Katie Gately to center field allowed Wurgaft to score the Polar Bears third run of the game in the third inning. Plymouth State scored its lone run in the bottom of the first on a fielder's choice.

Geaumont pitched six innings for the Polar Bears, allowing just one run while striking out six. Melissa DellaTorre stepped in for the final inning and escaped a bases loaded scenario with one final strikeout.

Bowdoin will face Keene State at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, followed by a 3:00 p.m. game against Springfield.
