Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team lost its first game of the season, but rebounded to split a doubleheader Saturday against Western New England.

The Polar Bears fell in game one, 2-1, before taking a 2-1 win in the nightcap. Bowdoin stands at 6-1 heading into an off-day Sunday. They will return to action on Monday with a doubleheader against Hamilton.

Erik Jacobsen took the tough-luck loss in the opener as the Polar Bears could only push one run across on a solo home run by Tom Wells. Chad Martin continued his hot hitting by going 2-4.

Bowdoin bounced back in game two, getting a strong start from Harry Ridge, who handed the ball over to David Zabinsky in the sixth. Zabinsky got out of a jam and threw a perfect seventh to earn the save. Sam Canales went 2-3 with an RBI in the victory.
