Box Score CASTINE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a strong first half to defeat the University of Maine at Fort Kent 74-45 on Sunday afternoon in the Consolation game of the Pepsi Mariner Challenge.
The Polar Bears (1-1) were led by Megan Phelps who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while adding four steals. Lauren Petit recorded 15 points and two rebounds, and teammate Marle Curle recorded a game-high eight assists. Sara Binkhorst had 11 points while Siena Mitman pitched in 10.
For her performance, Phelps was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Bowdoin dominated the court early, building a 16-point lead to enter the half 36-20, the Polar Bears never looked back, forcing 34 turnovers and earning 19 steals as a team. The Bengals were led by Bobbi Myles who picked up 14 points, and four rebounds.
Bowdoin will return to action on November 19th when they travel to Endicott for a 7:00 PM game time.
