HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College football team totaled 302 rushing yards on its way to a 40-21 win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Jessee/Miller Field.

The Bantams (5-0) extend the nation's longest home-field winning streak to 50 games. Bowdoin (2-3) sees its two-game winning streak come to an end.

Evan Bunker (159 yards) and Ben Crick (109) both surpassed the century-mark in rushing for the Bantams. Sonny Puzzo threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns for Trinity. Bowdoin was led by 75 rushing yards from first-year Tyler Grant. Receiver Daniel Barone caught five passes, including a touchdown, and racked up 132 yards of returns in the loss.

Scoreless after the opening quarter, Trinity found paydirt two plays into the second quarter when Crick broke loose on the left sideline for a 49-yard touchdown run. On their next possession, Bunker capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive with a six-yard run to make it 14-0.

Bowdoin was able to capitalize on a Trinity fumble, recovered by Brian Glazewski, to score its first touchdown of the day. Mac Caputi found Barone on the left sideline, where the receiver beat a Bantam defender to the corner of the endzone to make it 14-7 midway through the period.

But the Bantams scored a pair of late touchdown passes from Sonny Puzzo to carry a 27-7 lead into halftime.

Bowdoin made a bid to get back into the contest in the third quarter when Puzzo coughed up the ball on a sack from Glazewski, and Peter Yasi scooped it up, running 40 yards for a defensive touchdown that cut the lead to 27-14. But the Bantams answered immediately with a eight-play, 69-yard drive that ended with a Puzzo strike to Chris Ragone that made it 34-14 heading into the fourth quarter.

Tyler Grant had a fourth-quarter rushing touchdown for Bowdoin- the first of his career - to close out the scoring for the Polar Bears.

Joey Cleary had 14 tackles to lead Bowdoin. Glazewski had two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for Bowdoin. Matt Savard and Dan Johnson each had interceptions.

Bowdoin will look to get back into the win column next weekend when unbeaten Wesleyan (5-0) comes to Whittier Field at 12:30 p.m.
