Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College softball team pounded out 20 runs, 31 hits and 11 extra base hits to take a doubleheader sweep of Trinity on Saturday, 7-0 and 13-5.

The Polar Bears (20-8, 3-3 NESCAC) complete a three-game weekend sweep of their NESCAC East Division foe and reach 20 wins for the sixth consecutive season. Among NESCAC teams, only Tufts and Bowdoin have reached that plateau in each of the last six years. Trinity drops to 8-14 (2-7 NESCAC) with the losses.

Melissa DellaTorre made it easy for the Bowdoin offense in game one, tossing a complete-game, one-hit shutout to earn the victory. The Polar Bears scored twice on a Casey Correa double and Hannah Wurgaft single in the fourth and erupted for four runs in the fifth thanks to run-scoring hits from Gen Barlow, Wurgaft and Courtney Colantuno. Claire Prosperi had the lone hit for Trinity, asingle in the third inning. Katherine Poulos took the loss for the Bantams, allowing six earned runs and striking out five in six innings.

The Polar Bears built a 9-1 lead but had to stave off a late rally by Trinity for a 13-5 six-inning win in game two. Bowdoin blasted three home runs in the game and Barlow came within one RBI of the school record with six in the game. The junior 1B ripped a two-run double in the first frame and delivered a grand slam in the fourth. Toni DaCampo had a solo shot in the fourth as well, while Casey Correa lofted a three-run blast in the sixth. Miranda Riendeau-Card had a homer for Trinity while Amelia Mostovoy had two hits in the loss. Katerina Kolbe earned the loss by allowing nine earned runs for Trinity. DellaTorre picked up the win for Bowdoin with 1.1 innings of relief of Tricia Thibodeau, who went 4.2 frames and allowed three earned runs.

Barlow had five hits on the afternoon for Bowdoin, including two doubles and a home run. Toni DaCampo had four hits, including two doubles and a round-tripper while Caroline Dewar, Amy Hackett and Courtney Colantuno each had four hits apiece.
