Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLERMONT, Fla. - After two off days, the Bowdoin College baseball team returned to action with a doubleheader split against Allegheny on Thursday afternoon. The Polar Bears stand at 9-5 this spring and will conclude their spring trip with a twinbill against Ramapo on Friday.

Tim Welch pitched six strong innings in the game one start for Bowdoin, allowing four hits and no earned runs while striking out three. The Polar Bears scored twice in the second frame on an RBI triple by Aaron Rosen and a single by Buddy Shea. Dan Findley ripped an RBI double in the third before Allegheny rallied to get one back in the sixth. Then the Gators scored a pair of unearned runs in the seventh against Bowdoin closer Ian Edwards, but Bowdoin rebounded in the top of the eighth when Tim McGarry got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Henry Van Zant shut the door with a perfect eighth for the save to round out the 4-3 victory.

Allegheny bounced back with a 9-1 win in the nightcap, scoring four times in the fifth and three times in the seventh to secure the victory. Bowdoin's run came on a run-scoring single by Dan Findley in the fourth inning. Erik Jacobsen took the loss on the mound for the Polar Bears, allowing six earned runs in six frames.
