Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin College softball team continued to roll in recent action in Florida, winning three of their last four games.
The Polar Bears stand at 8-2 so far this spring, with six games remaining on their Florida trip.
In their most recent action, Bowdoin defeated Western New England (10-1), Washington & Jefferson (6-5), Western Connecticut (3-1) before falling to Hope (8-0).
On March 18, Bowdoin cruised to a mercy-rule 10-1 victory over Western New England. Melissa DellaTorre earned the win with seven strikeouts. Toni DaCampo scored three runs in the game while Amy Hackett and Courtney Colantuno each had two RBI's. The Polar Bears completed the doubleheader sweep with a 6-5 win over Washington & Jefferson. Tricia Thibodeau earned the win with two strikeouts over the final three innings in relief. Gen Barlow and Adriane Krul scored twice each while Casey Correa had a pair of hits. Hillary Smyth ripped a hard hit to deep short in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Krul for the game-winning run.
On March 20, Bowdoin earned a solid 3-1 win over Western Conn. DellaTorre was sensational, striking out six and allowing just one hit. Bowdoin scored twice in the first when Smyth and Caroline Dewar came home on a Correa base hit. The Polar Bears ran out of gas against Hope in the nightcap, falling 8-0. Bowdoin's two hits in the loss came from Dewar and DaCampo.
