Polar Bears Fall in Saturday Action at NESCAC Men's Squash Tourney

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College men's squash team lost a nailbiter to Bates, 5-4, in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday at Trinity College.

The Polar Bears, who then lost to Wesleyan 5-4 in the consolation bracket, fall to 11-13 this winter after claiming their first win of the weekend, 5-4 over Connecticut College.

Down 3-0 after three matches against Bates, Bowdoin rallied to take four of the next five matches to deadlock the contest. Stephan Danyluk (#2), Barrett Takesian (#3), Will Winmill (#7) and Max Bearse (#9) all earned points for Bowdoin before Bates' Bobby Burns tipped Andrew Hilboldt 3-1 at number one to clinch the win.

Against Wesleyan, Bowdoin got victories from Danyluk and Takesian again as well as William Fantini at number four and Andrew Sprague at number eight.

In the Connecticut College match, Danyluk (#2), Takesian (#3), Fantini (#4) and Sprague (#5) clinched the 5-4 victory to round out the weekend.
