BRUNSWICK, Maine - First-year pitcher Melissa DellaTorre tossed a three-hitter to edge Bates starter Caroline Gattuso, 1-0, on Sunday at Pickard Field. The Polar Bears, who have been eliminated from NESCAC postseason contention, finish their season with a record of 22-18 (8-4 NESCAC) while Bates stands at 12-12 (4-8 NESCAC) and will conclude their season with a doubleheader against Husson on Tuesday.
DellaTorre permitted just three hits and struck out six battters in the win for Bowdoin. Gattuso allowed just four hits and whiffed 10 in the loss for the Bobcats.
Bowdoin got its single run in the second as Gen Barlow singled and stole second. Rookie catcher Casey Correa slapped a single up the middle that brought home Barlow for the game's only run. Correa had two of Bowdoin's four hits in the win. AnnaMarie Martino had a hit and a stolen base for the Bobcats.
