Bowdoin Completes Season Sweep of Colby in Waterville

WATERVILLE, Maine - Behind the game one pitching performance of Kara Nilan and four hits apiece from Toni DaCampo and Amy Hackett, the Bowdoin College softball team completed a season sweep of Colby on Saturday in Waterville, 4-1 and 9-5. The Polar Bears improve to 11-13 (4-2 NESCAC) with the twinbill sweep while the Mules drop to 3-10 (0-3 NESCAC) this season.

Nilan stranded 11 Colby runners on base in the opener and helped her own cause with two runs scored, one hit, and one walk. She scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Amy Hackett in the third inning. The Polar Bears added another lone run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Hanna Wurgaft. Bowdoin added two unearned runs in the seventh inning on a two-run single by Toni DaCampo.

The Mules had their lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Lindsay Peterson led off with a double and later scored on Katie Graichen's RBI single.

In the second game, Hackett belted a homer, had one single, and walked twice. She scored three times and drove in a pair as the Polar Bears scored all nine of their runs in the first four innings. DaCampo went 3-for-3, scored twice, and had two RBI. Meanwhile, Nilan had three hits and scored two runs. DellaTorre earned the win with six innings of work in game two.
